Bands

Resistance bands provide variable tension — lighter at the bottom of a movement, heavier as the band stretches. Band profiles let you log band exercises quickly and track progression accurately.

Creating a band profile

  1. Go to Settings > Equipment > Bands
  2. Tap Add Band
  3. Enter:
    • Name — A label you'll recognize (e.g., "Light Red", "Heavy Black")
    • Color — The band color for visual identification
    • Tension — The approximate resistance in lbs or kg at working stretch

Tension values

Band tension varies by stretch length, so the number is an approximation at your typical working range. Most manufacturers provide tension ranges (e.g., "30–50 lbs"). Use the midpoint or the value that feels right for your most common exercises.

BandTypical tension range
Light (yellow/red)10–30 lbs
Medium (green/blue)30–60 lbs
Heavy (black/purple)50–100 lbs
Extra heavy80–150+ lbs

Using bands during logging

When logging a set with the Band resistance type, your configured bands appear as quick-select options. Tap the band you used and the tension is recorded.

Bands with barbells

When combining bands with barbell weight (accommodating resistance), log the barbell weight as the primary resistance and note the band setup in equipment context:

Banded Bench Press: 225 lbs × 5 reps
Equipment context: double red bands

This keeps 1RM calculations based on the barbell weight while recording the full setup.
